5 ‘Health Foods’ That Are Really Junk Foods in Disguise

Most people have at least once in their lives, mistaken junk food for healthy food. In the main because of false advertising, making junk food appear healthy than it actually is. In reality, that’s far from the truth. Even though advertisers can lie, the contents on the package can’t.

Therefore, always read the content table and see what’s in the package before you buy a “healthy” product. Read on for five healthy foods that are actually junk food in disguise.

1.       Breakfast Cereals

Most breakfast cereals are actually junk food. Only they’re marketed as super-healthy, good for kids, etc. These are all lies, and you should select a better breakfast food. If a breakfast cereal claims to be low-fat or whole grain, look at the nutrients on the package and see for yourself if those tags make sense.

If not, avoid buying it. You’re much better off making yourself a nice bowl of oatmeal, adding whatever natural ingredients you like.

2.       Fruit Juices

By now, most people know that fruit juices are a farce. The package always claims that it’s 100% natural, with no added sugars, but when you look at the ingredients, you shiver in disgust. The best way to drink fruit juices is to buy fresh fruit and juice it yourself.

This way, you’ll get actual natural ingredients, and only sugar from the fruit itself, instead of the bad chemicals in “fruit juice” from the store. Gatorade and soft drinks are at least more honest and don’t claim to be healthy.

Sport juices are also deceptive as they contain electrolytes and claim to be healthy. Don’t fall for that; they still have high contents of sugar, and you’re better off drinking plain water.

3.       All Processed Low-fat Food

Anything that’s processed is junk food in disguise. Especially if it has a low-fat or fat-free tag. When you get food with those tags, you’ll receive tons of sugar with your food instead of saturated fat. Saturated fat isn’t harmful, while added sugar most certainly is.

Humans actually need a certain amount of fat every day, depending on their build. Don’t avoid fat entirely, better avoid added sugars.

4.       Margarine

Margarine isn’t butter, even though it’s also marketed that way. Nothing about margarine is healthy. It’s a chemical blend of oils that resembles food, but shouldn’t be called food. Real butter is much healthier than margarine and doesn’t cause heart disease (yes, margarine can do that).

A little margarine can’t kill you, but don’t even think it’s healthy and good for everyday use.

5.       Fake Junk Food

Nowadays, a lot of fake junk food passes as healthy food. Have you heard of vegan junk food? That’s just ridiculous, and goes to show that people will buy anything “vegan”. Stuff like vegan bacon, or vegan burgers aren’t healthy at all. In fact, each product is made in a factory, and shouldn’t be consumed by anyone, even vegans.

Low-carb junk food is also deceptive. Again, it isn’t healthy, because of all the chemicals each product contains. Put simply, avoid junk food if you want to eat healthily.

There Is No Healthy Junk Food

This title is the end of the story. There simply can’t be a mix of healthy and junk food, anyone who thinks that isn’t thinking straight. If you want to have an occasional junk food meal, that’s fine. Actually, actual junk food is more honest than these wannabe healthy food replacements masquerading as something they’re not.
